A Book Update and Memoir-Adjacent Articles

My memoir Renegade Agency will be available for purchase on December 2, 2024. I’m unable to list the physical book for pre-order, but the Kindle version is available for pre-order now. Click here to pre-order the Kindle version.

I toyed with the idea of adding QR codes in the text to link readers directly to memoir-adjacent news articles. I quickly realized this would be clunky, so I’m listing them here instead.

It might be tempting to believe that my story is a one-off, and that things in child abuse investigations don’t go this far. Carrody Buchhorn’s story reinforces that they can, and that some fates are much worse than mine. At the time of her investigation, we were living in the same small Kansas town, had both provided day care for children, and a flawed medical opinion was a major factor in her case just like in mine.

Read Carrody’s story of conviction and exoneration here.

My investigation started in 2013 and dragged on until 2016. DCF made the news often in this period.

Multiple hotline reports were made concerning a little boy named Adrian Jones. Read about DCF’s response to those allegations prior to his death here, here and here.

This article reveals DCF’s pattern of secrecy. It was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

I look forward to discussing Renegade Agency when it’s released! My story is important, so please consider that on-line reviews help get the word out.
